Claiming a Listing on Angie's List

Hannah Brown -

What is Angie’s List?

Angie’s List is an online review site with more than 720 categories of local service providers like contractors and doctors. About 2 million households pay to read reviews on Angie’s List to find quality businesses before they select one to hire.

 Angie’s List is a paid membership service. Businesses rated on Angie’s List are graded by members on an A-to-F scale based on member submissions of more than 40,000 reviews each month. Only Angie’s List members can give grades and write reviews for other local members to view. Grades and reviews control your placement on Angie’s List.

 By claiming an existing listing or adding a new one on Angie’s List, you gain access to business tools to edit your information, as well as read and respond to reviews.

How to claim an Angie’s List profile

Step 1: Go to Angie’s List Business Center and click on Claim your business profile

Step 2: Search for your practice by name and zip code. You can use partial words or omit abbreviations to search.

If a listing already exists for your practice, it should come up in search results. Click Select next to the listing you want to claim.

If a listing for your practice does not come up, click Search Again to try searching with different criteria. If a listing still doesn’t come up, click Add Company to add a new one.

To add your practice, enter all the information in the form. Check the box next to Health Related Services and then add all applicable categories.

Step 3: Once you have found or created a listing, set up your account to access it. Enter your first and last name (this will not be displayed on the profile), your practice’s Gmail and a password. The password must be 6-15 characters long with letters or digits. Check the box to confirm you are a practice employee and click Submit.

Next, click Access your profile to complete the profile information members will see when searching for your practice.

A verification email will be sent to the Gmail associated with the account. Click the link in the email to verify your profile and then sign in.

Step 4: Once you are signed in, click Continue on the alert message to complete your profile information.

Follow the next five steps to initially complete profile information. After each page, click Continue to move to the next section. Here are some tips for completing the required profile information.

  • General Service Area: Select Health Related Services
  • Specific Service Area: Choose your practice’s specialties from the list and add all that apply.
  • Business Description: Include details about your practice that are not listed as part of specialties, like a mission statement, other suite numbers, provider names, etc.
  • Services Offered (maximum of 500 characters): Add a paragraph describing the services you offer. This should include procedures or conditions handled at your practice. This better equips Angie’s List members to make informed decisions on whether your practice is right for them.
  • Accept Payment Types: Select yes or no for each payment option.
  • Insurance Accepted: Select all that apply from the list of available insurance types.
  • In Business Since: Add the year your practice was established.
  • Specialty: Choose up to three from the drop-down lists.
  • Office Hours: Add office hours for each day. If closed, check the Closed box next to the corresponding day.
  • License Details: For practices, select Not applicable, my profession does not require licensing. For physicians, select Yes, I am appropriately licensed for my profession, then choose the correct license number or add a new one.

 To add another profile to your account, click on Change Company, then Add a Company. Repeat the steps above to claim another listing.

Ratings & Reviews

Ratings

Ratings, commonly referred to as grades on Angie’s List, represent the average score on an A-to-F scale calculated from reviews patients leave about your practice. This information is located in the Rating tab and is displayed in two measures, recent scores and total scores. These ratings show up when Angie’s List members search for businesses.

To access your practice’s ratings, click on the Rating tab in the green menu bar.

In the Rating tab, you will see two sections, Company Ratings and Category Status. The chart for All Overall Grades represents an average of the overall experience score from all reviews Angie’s List members have submitted.

The Category Status displays the categories your practice may be found under. For each category, you’ll see the number of recent reviews, recent overall grade and total number of reviews. If your practice has been awarded any Angie’s List Awards, you’ll see them here too.

Reviews

Reviews include grades on the overall experience, price, quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism. They may also include additional comments regarding the reviewer’s experience. Angie’s List members value the feedback in the reviews from other members, as well as the responses posted from the business. More reviews increases positioning in category search results, and Angie’s List strongly encourages companies to respond to each review received.

To access your Review List, go to the Reviews tab in the green menu bar and click on My Reviews from the drop-down list.

The Review List has every review that has been submitted from both non-members and members. You can see the date submitted, category and grade for each review. You can also submit a response to each review you receive by clicking Respond to Review in the bottom right corner of each review.

Before submitting a public response to any online review, please contact  HCA Web & Social Media Services for consultation.
